To be quite honest, it doesn’t. White people have dominated the conversation on race and racism for hundreds of years. Now it’s time for y’all to sit down, shut up, and listen. If you can’t handle that you’re not that good of an ally.

Saying that “White People” Don’t have an opinion on Racism is racist. Sorry. It’s called an opinion for a reason. Just because they’re white doesn’t mean the entire race is responsible for other people’s actions. Who cares what the color of the skin is. As long as good things come out, I don’t see a problem with expressing one’s opinon.

It’s also funny because ladyatheist is exactly the kind of person this blog is meant to make fun of. 

This is what my ass gets for trying to be nice to you people. You can have your little white opinion all you want to, but don’t you dare think it’s going to have any bearing on me or what I think or how I act. For hundreds of years white people have stolen from, raped, killed, dehumanized, and degraded people who look like me. When I, and other Black people, side-eye the hell out of white people who are oh so fucking eager to express their “opinions” on racism, that’s not racist. That’s called self preservation.

For hundreds of years the conversation has been dominated by white opinions. When you crack open a history book, that’s all you see. My history and culture has been so whitewashed, it’s hard to tell the truth from lies. Excuse the fuck out of me if I am sick and fucking tired of hearing white voices speak about my experiences and my history.

White people don’t know the full extent of racism and how much that shit hurts because it doesn’t affect them. If anything, they directly benefit from it. They have no concept of the more subtle forms of racism because they’re not taught about it. They think that as long as they’re not burning crosses and bombing churches that they’re perfectly fine. That shit is not true. Racism today is a hell of a lot more subtle and permeates every facet of society.

To quote Voltaire, “no snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible”. That’s what I’m reminded of when I see the above responses and the original blog. Instead of examining why PoC feel the way we do about racism, they call us racist and completely disregard everything we say. Instead of turning the lens on themselves and examining their actions, they lash out at anyone who dares to say that they could have done something racist. Instead of checking their privilege, they find other people who agree with them and have a nice little circle jerk about how “not racist” they are and how mean the PoC are being to them.

I might just get busted for saying this, but I gotta say it. I’m kind of fed up with everyone and coining this whole “reverse racism” issue, I don’t think there is such a thing as “reverse racism”. Any hate against any race is racist. If you think I’m wrong, then what do you call it when a person of any race hates on people who are of the same race as them? For example, I’ve had friends who are black that refuse to date or really have much asssociation with other black people because they find them disgusting and obnoxious. Another example, I’ve had a Vietnamese friend who dated a black guy and her family was not cool with it, they wanted her to go for a fellow Vietnamese stud. The reality is, there are other races that hate on other races, not just ‘blacks hating on whites, asians hating whites, mexicans hating whites, etc. etc’. There are blacks vs. asians, asians vs. blacks, mexicans vs. blacks, blacks vs. mexicans, and etc. (all billions of races around the fucking globe against each other, not just on whites)! Truth is, we are all human beings and deserve to be treated as so. I know I am white, I know I have privilege over alot of other people, but I unless I ACTUALLY did you wrong for your race, do not attack me for mine, I DESERVE to be treated like a fellow PERSON. Do not come at me for other peoples fuck ups and hate when I did nothing. The same goes for everyone else as well.

When it comes down to it, condoning someone to hate on another for their race no matter if they’re white or not is lame. All it does is spread hate and spits fire and guess what? IT SPREADS MORE RACISM. It really is the fucking domino effect, it eventually affects alot of people. In psychology, what you do and say CAN and WILL affect other people, alot of other people. And don’t get me started on WHITE people slapping the “reverse racism” label on everything and supporting PoC and their hate for white people. Guess what? You are condoning PoC to be victims, you’re sitting there with you white privilege and telling them it’s okay to be a victim and hate on white people. I know PoC that would have your fucking hide for that shit. That is a disgrace and absolutely disrespectful to some when you sit there and support them, that in itself is pretty racist. They can no doubt fight their own battles without the help of someone they’re against.

The overall message is that there are many other cultures and races that hate on each other and themselves, not just whites. No matter what you say or do, there will forever be racism. It really is even in our nature to be racist, how do you think natural selection works? Depending on where you are, where you come from and what not, aesthetics play a huge part in survival. This goes for animals, plants, bugs, etc, they can be prejudiced and discriminative as well. No doubt, ultimately, it is our surroundings, society, nature that piles up on our newborn slates and forms who we are and how we think/act out on/function. But as the dominant species, it is up to us, the people that are aware of racism and how unfair and cruel it can be to try to spread the message that no matter what, we are beings. We make mistakes, even if they are disgusting and shitty. But we all deserve a chance and shouldn’t be damned for anothers choices and actions. All in all, with no fancy, intelligent labels and bullshit, RACISM JUST SUCKS. Period.

ladyatheist: speaking as someone who studies race/racism/oppression issues, i can understand your frustration… but do you not realize that all you are doing is: 1) strengthening the binary that racism is founded on and supported by, 2) perpetuating a racist atmosphere, 3) ignoring the intersectionality that is taking place (this isn’t just a white vs. black issue… this is a class, gender, race, religion, power, party, etc. issue), and 4) blaming an entire race for the acts of a few (aka being racist)?  racism is not defined by color.  you don’t have to be white to be the oppressor and you don’t have to be black to be oppressed.  you are not taking a step forward for racism issues and toward equality, you have taken many, many steps backward.  i’m shocked.

this is really interesting and all but “It really is even in our nature to be racist, how do you think natural selection works?” 

SORRY BUT RACISM IS NOT HOW NATURAL SELECTION WORKS that is bordering eugenic science shit please stop
